Where to store the data

Funding agencies and bodies require data to be deposited in open access via subject-specific data repositories or institutional repositories. When selecting a repository for deposit, we must take the following into account:

  • Whether the funding agency requires me to deposit in a specific repository
  • The subject area
  • Storage capacity
  • Ease of data retrieval
  • Assignment of a unique and persistent identifier for each dataset (DOI or Handle)
  • Possibility of setting an embargo period for the data
  • Type of licence assigned to the dataset
  • Long-term data preservation

You can deposit the data in different types of repositories:
