The management of the University of Seville Library is guided by the principles of total quality, based on the conviction that a service can only be considered optimal when it meets the needs of the user and provides an acceptable level of satisfaction. In line with this, the Library has adopted a management model based on the principles of quality and continuous improvement, aimed at achieving a service of excellence.
The Club of Excellence in Management has awarded us the 700 Seal, which recognises the highest level of excellent, innovative and sustainable management. The assessment, carried out in accordance with the EFQM 2025 Model, awarded us 704 points. The Library is the third organisation to reach this level and the first university library to do so, establishing us as a national benchmark in the field of management.
To obtain the Seal, the Library underwent a rigorous external assessment. In their report, the assessors highlighted the following strengths:
A collective effort by the entire team that reinforces its role as a key service for the University of Seville and as a model for other university libraries, both nationally and internationally.
We will continue to move forward, with professionalism and commitment, to improve our services and respond to the new challenges of the university environment.
This certification, valid for three years, recognises the Library’s effective management and commitment to continuous improvement. The assessment followed the EFQM 2020 Model, and the score achieved was 633, placing this service among the highest levels attainable. The assessment team highlighted:
This seal also recognises the efforts of the Library staff who, with professionalism and enthusiasm, have succeeded in strengthening the Library’s role as a benchmark at national and international level.
The BUS is the second university library in Spain to receive this award, following the University of Granada Library.
The latest milestone has been the renewal of the European Seal of Excellence 500+. Awarded in 2019 by Bureau Veritas on behalf of the Club for Excellence in Management, it also underscores the commitment made by the Library team to the implementation and development of a culture of quality at the University of Seville. The overall score achieved in 2019 was 549–599 points, representing a move up a bracket, and places this service among the highest-ranked organisations holding this certification.
However, this was not the first assessment process it had undergone. In April 2010, the Library was awarded the European Seal of Excellence 300+, which is also granted by the Club of Excellence in Management. This award reinforced its commitment to quality, continuous improvement and its pursuit of excellence.
