Rules for group study rooms and quiet study areas

Who can use these

The group study rooms are available for use by members of the US university community.

Booking terms and conditions

  • To make a booking, the user must enter their UVUS (US Virtual User) on the booking form.
  • Staff may verify the user’s identity and the accuracy of the details provided at any time during the booking process; should any discrepancies be found, the booking may be cancelled and the user notified via email.
  • Upon entering the room, the applicant must present their University ID card at the Library circulation desk. The cardholder will be responsible for ensuring the working group uses the room correctly, as well as for the correct use of the equipment.
  • The University ID card must be valid and the person making the booking must not be subject to any disciplinary sanctions. Otherwise, the booking will be cancelled.
  • If the room is not occupied within fifteen minutes of the start of the booking, the booking will be cancelled and the room may be used by another group. Individuals who repeatedly book rooms and fail to occupy them or cancel them will be penalised and will not be able to book rooms for 7 days.
  • Furthermore, if misuse of the room or its equipment is observed, the user must vacate the room immediately and will be penalised by being barred from making bookings for a period of 7 days.
  • If the room has no booking, it may remain occupied by the same group, provided that another user has booked it via the established system.
  • Rooms may not be booked if the number of users is less than 50% of their capacity*.
  • The use of study rooms for purposes not related to study, teaching or research will be subject to sanctions, in accordance with the Library Regulations.
  • The use of study rooms for profit-making purposes, including private tuition, is strictly prohibited. If misuse of the room is observed, the Library reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action.
  • The user making the booking is responsible for the proper use of the room.

*During periods of low demand, the room may be authorised for use by fewer than 50% of its capacity.
