Loan

Physicist

The home loan service allows users to borrow items from the BUS collection outside the Library premises. It is personal and non-transferable, and to use the service, users must present their university ID card at the circulation desks or self-service kiosks, or their Library card in the case of external users. A proxy borrowing service is also available.

The number of items and the loan period vary depending on the type of user. Loans will be automatically renewed until the due date, provided no one else requests the item.

Digital

This is a new service offered by the University of Seville Library that allows you to borrow books and audiobooks in digital format (ePub, PDF, etc.) online. This service is provided via Presto, and you can download and/or view the selected items on your computer, tablet, smartphone or e-reader.

The Humanities Library is a space designed to support study, teaching and research, and is an integral part of the academic life of the various departments. In this section, you can find out more about its organisation, services and collections, as well as the resources it makes available to you both on and off campus.

Intercampus

The inter-campus loan service allows users to receive a document held in another campus’s library at their own library, without having to travel. The prerequisite is that the document is not available on their own campus.

This service is aimed at undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, teaching staff and administrative and support staff at the University of Seville.

The following are excluded from the inter-campus service for the entire university community: recommended reading, IT equipment and one-day loans.

The total number of inter-campus loan requests may not exceed the maximum number of items permitted under the lending regulations.

Firstly, we must check, by consulting the Fama Catalogue, that the book we are looking for is not in any library on our campus.

The items that can be requested via the inter-campus service are those that appear in our catalogue with the "Request" option, after logging in.

Next, you will need to select the library where you wish to collect the document before submitting your request:

Although some items are listed as available in the Fama Catalogue, they may not actually be available due to circumstances beyond the Library’s control.

The collection period is 48 hours from receipt of the email notification. Failure to collect an inter-campus book within the specified period will result in a one-month suspension of borrowing privileges.

Academic staff and visiting lecturers may use the inter-campus loan service, which involves requesting books from their own campus via the Fama Catalogue for collection and return at the library holding the copy.

CBUA

The CBUA (Consortium of University Libraries of Andalusia) loan scheme enables members of the universities of Almería, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, the International University of Andalusia, Jaén, Málaga, Pablo de Olavide and Seville to request items on loan from other university libraries in Andalusia.

Although this service is free of charge for users, it does incur a cost for the Library; therefore, before making a request, please check that the item is not already in our catalogue and that it is indeed the item you require. If you have any queries, please ask at your local Library. Requests must be made by the user via the Library Catalogue itself, by selecting the ‘CBUA Union Catalogue’ option from the drop-down menu. The approximate time between requesting the book and its arrival at the user’s library is one week, although this timeframe is approximate and may vary.

Items available for loan:

  • These are the items that appear with the CBUA Loan option in the catalogue.
  • Items excluded from the interlibrary loan scheme do not display the CBUA Loan option.
  • In general, the following are excluded: textbooks, reference works, recommended reading lists, journals and short-loan items.
  • A request cannot be made if there is a copy available at the university of which the user is a member

Requirements that service users must meet:

  • Belong to the university community of one of the universities participating in the project: students, researchers, administrative and support staff, and academic staff. This does not include users from affiliated centres, the Language Institute, Erasmus students, alumni, or external users in general.
  • Have a user account with the Library.
  • Have an email address to receive collection and claim notifications.
  • Not be blocked or have an expired Library user account.

The terms of this type of loan are:

  • Maximum number of copies that can be requested: 3
  • Loan period: 15 days
  • Renewals: 3 renewals

Before submitting a CBUA loan application, please note:

  • It is not permitted to cancel requests.
  • Failure to collect a requested document will result in a one-month suspension from the Library’s loan service.

CBUA Loan Service for Visitors (In-person)

This service allows any member of a CBUA member university who, for whatever reason, is visiting an Andalusian university other than their own to borrow documents.

This type of loan does not require prior reservation and can be requested directly in person at the library holding the document, even if a copy is available at the university of which the user is a member.

To use this service, simply present your original university ID card; there is no need to obtain another one.

Documents may be returned either to the library where the loan was made, or to the library of the university to which the visiting user belongs.

This service is free of charge for the user. Any associated costs will be covered by the CBUA.

The terms and conditions of this type of loan are the same as those of the CBUA loan outlined above:

  • Maximum number of copies that can be requested: 3
  • Loan period: 15 days
  • Renewals: 3 renewals

Interlibrary loan

The interlibrary loan service aims to provide documents not held by the BUS, as well as to lend and supply documents from the BUS to other libraries upon request.
