The Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing (SCOAP3) is a project involving more than 3,000 international libraries, consortia, research centres and scientific publishers such as IOP, Springer and Elsevier.

The 11 key journals in the field of particle physics are open access and also allow research staff at the University of Seville to publish in them openly at no cost, as well as to retain copyright over their publications. All articles are published under CC-BY licences.

The funds that participating libraries previously allocated to these subscriptions are now transferred to SCOAP3 to cover publication costs, thereby relieving authors of this burden.
