Booking

This service allows you to request items that are currently on loan to other users. Reservations can be made via the Library catalogue, by telephone or in person.

Please note the following requirements:

  • You cannot place a reservation if you already have another copy of the same book on loan or reserved. To reserve multiple volumes of the same work, you must request this at the library’s circulation desk.
  • A valid email address is essential for making reservations. You can update your email address directly via My Account or by contacting your library.
  • A reservation can only be made if the copy is currently on loan, not if it is available.
  • If the copy is in a department, lost or in any other unauthorised status, the system will display a message indicating that the copy cannot be reserved.
  • In the case of academic staff and visiting lecturers, you may request items that are available on your own campus (inter-campus requests). Both collection and return of the book must be carried out at the library holding the item.

Once the reservation has been made, you should check your email regularly, as you will receive a message as soon as the reserved item has been returned. The collection period is 48 hours from receipt of the email notification.

Failure to collect a reservation within the specified time limit may result in suspension from the Library’s reservation service.

The maximum number of reservations depends on the type of user:

  • Student, Alumni, external user: 3
  • PhD students, Master’s students, researchers, administrative and support staff: 5
  • Staff: 10

PLEASE NOTE: By default, one month after a reservation is requested, the system automatically cancels it. If you wish to keep the reservation active for longer, you must indicate this when making the request. If you have any questions, please ask at your library’s circulation desk.

If you wish to view or cancel your reservations, please check My Account.
